a game of thrones post

let me first preface this by saying that I haven’t read any of the books, and I probably never will as it seems that the show is covering everything fairly well.

but one thing that annoys the shit out of me is when I see these posts like OMG SANSA IS SO GREAT/BETTER THAN YOUR FAVES/YOUR FAVES COULD NEVER/etc because I’m like

um

sansa was a huuuuuuuuuge asshole. until the very last episode of the season. and I love asshole characters but she spent 98% of the season being unpleasant and insufferable. so what are you people going on about. is it because of the books?

No, its not because of the books.

Okay, Sansa is a flawed character. No one denies that she has her flaws like every other character in the series…

She makes mistakes, she regrets her mistakes. She has dreams, and her dreams are shattered. She is a little girl with fantasies and a pure heart, but she can still be a stubborn child like we all were at her age. I love Sansa because I see myself in her. I see my dreams and hopes, I see stubborn loyalty, I see mistakes, I see growth, I see naivety, and I see innocence.

But she gets most of my love because she’s real. She goes through real changes. She faces some of the greatest masterminds of the entire series — Littlefinger, Cersei, Varys — and she learns from them. She endures horrible things, and she still stands tall. She still tries to keep her heart pure after everything that has happened to her family. She might not learn as fast as we would want her too because she still hopes for the best in people, but she still learns.

And you know what? She’s outlasted a lot of other characters.

Sansa is beautiful.
